I clicked on the telly today to see that Ana Ivanovic was in dire straits. A qualifier by the last name Coin (but actually sounds more like Kwan) was serving like a maniac, and making a serious run with a 5-2 lead in the 3rd set. She got a match point while serving at 5-3 and double faulted. Ivanovic wasn't playing bad - Coin, ranked 188 played the match of her life. After the double fault I had a feeling she may not cross the finish line. But she did.
This is the match of the tournament so far.
Lot's of great 2nd round men's and third round Woman's slated for Friday. Tomorrow's night session (Davenport v. Bartoli and Roddick v. Gulbis) could be the most exciting night session yet.
Safin V. Robredo.
Tsonga V. Moya
Already the draws are providing some enticing matchups: Saturday's best match might be upstart Juan Martin Del Potro vs. Frenchman Gilles Simon. Del Potro has humbled his last 21 opponents and the 19 year old appears capable of a shot at the top 10 in 2009.
